After analysis the feedback I received about the target audience, I now know, that the target audience I aimed to reach has been achieved with my rough cut.
I know this is the case because in a previous post I believed my production would be suited to young children and early teens, this was confirmed for me through 9 out of the 11 people who were asked to watch my rough cut responding with either young children or young teens. Also, I predicted that my target audience would be 8-15 year olds. This has been confirmed in two ways, firstly through the response I have already spoken about and secondly, the ages mentioned in the feedback response where 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14.
In terms of the type of people that would be interested in viewing my short film, I aimed to reach those who were either interested in sport in general, or specifically surfing. This has been achieved because the feedback received from my peers indicated that three types of people would be interested in watching my film these were: surfers, people getting into surfing, and those interested in finding a new hobby.
I was very lucky with the response I gained because some of the responses included where my peers would expect to see my short film production. The suggested places were both BBC children’s programmes (Blue Peter, Deadly 100). This again highlights that I have set my film to reach those that I planned to.
Despite not getting a response directly about the target audience’s gender, I can assume that both males and females would enjoy my production. This is because firstly, the feedback group consisted of both males and females and secondly, due to not having a response on paper, the fact that gender was not mentioned is a response within itself.
Some perceptive comments here Ben; well done.
